It has always amazed me, as in the case of William Wesley Peters, how far from the tree the acorn sometimes falls.
He didn't evolve but immediately revealed, as in the Lincoln Savings Building, how little he undestood the Master.

To Laurie Virr: Thank you for taking the time to briefly encapsulate the career of Harry Seidler. There can be no question that he was immensely successful and was honored in Australia and worldwide. Being unaware of much of this, I feel as though I had just emerged from under a flat rock. Of partic...

If that was the case wouldn't it be a matter of public record?
Why is it all so mysterious?

Harry Seidler

Query to Laurie Virr: In my student days (the fifties) I was very interested in the work of Harry Seidler. His early work was published in “Arts and Architecture. His later work was, to my knowledge, published only on rare occasion in the USA. Is it possible for you to summarize his later caree...

Additional questions (maybe they are the same questions expressed differently): How did the “local architect have the temerity to unethically (that it was unethical appears to be beyond dispute) usurp the project authority of a world famous practitioner? Did he not fear the consequences of disc...

KW and RG, You're right he would have been very busy. These days we reel of a couple hundred miles as though it was next door (at least in the west we do). In the fifties and early sixties it wasn't quite so easy. Also, I had forgotten that the three valley projects were concurrent or nearly so. Tha...

Well said, Paul.
In spite of their apparent disinclination to participate, I think we would have richer discussions if more women, especially design professionals, joined the discourse.

The profile at Age 83 is my favorite. I've had a copy of it on my drafting table (several different tables but always, literally, the same picture) for almost 60 years.
What I'm trying to say is that I only have one copy and I've had it that long.
