We had some discussion about this house a while ago. It's also known as "Northome". Check out the old thread here:

Reidy, I'm going to order the Quinan book, thanks. I've liked his other work so I'm sure this one will be enlightening as well.

Some photos of Midway that may not have been published elsewhere ? Unfortunately, they have all been published elsewhere. I'm pretty sure they are all, or nearly all, by Fuermann and the vast majority are in Paul Kruty's Frank Lloyd Wright and Midway Gardens . I found a reference to the colors, tho...

I need to scour my own library. I specifically remember reading that the tiles were pink, green, and white, and that the flooring was green marble tile and I feel like I even saw that called out somewhere on a sheet. I'll see if there is more to post...

What a sublime house - absolutely beautiful. A few thoughts - I love that there are windows over the fireplaces, even if you can see the stove pipe beyond, but why are there three of them? It looks very dramatic but I just can't imagine ever having all three lit simultaneously, even for a party. The...

Even just the photo on the cover of the Early Photographs book is a stunner. All that clarity of detail - you can really see Sullivan's genius for geometry and ornament.

Here is what I tried to post before: On the first page of this thread, Wrighter questioned whether it was correct that only 30 of Adler & Sullivan's buildings were still standing. While I haven't taken the time to count, I'd say it's pretty close to that. You'd need to consult The Complete Archi...

Every time I try and post nothing is there. When I go in to edit that post, all the text I typed is there but it vanishes when I save. That's maddening.

Universal Portland Cement Co. Exhibition

I've become interested in a tiny project of Wright's: The Universal Portland Cement Co. Exhibition Pavilion. It was a temporary pavilion that only stood for a few months. Wright liked it enough to include it in the so called Little Wasmuth and it's a fun little design. I'm thinking of modeling it, b...

In doing some research on Sullivan, I ran across this book that says it includes all of his known architectural drawings "some never before published." https://www.amazon.com/Louis-Sullivan-Architecture-Narcisco-Menocal/dp/0393048233/ref=pd_rhf_ee_s_cp_0_7?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=039304...

That's exciting that the found some of the original stained glass - what a find!

Is there an archive of Sullivan's drawings somewhere? I've never heard a lot about any of that.

I had heard that JOA+D was considering reprinting some of the out-of-print issues. Do you have any info on that PrairieMod?

The Imperial Hotel issue looks spectacular! I can't wait for mine to come.

Yes, weather is definitely the modelers friend. Also, closed doors, artistically blurred renderings, and strategically placed plant life. :D
