"Broadacre City was designed .... so that the landscape could come through as an integral feature of modern life" Seems like a major point and concisely put. (How do you guys get the blocks of white font on dark background in order to highlight what others have written?) Upper right hand ...

It is one way of living. It fits my view of things. However, a great many people love city life and would die under this arrangement.

Diversity is one reason why top down planning models fail.

I’ll stay out of the integrity of design debate.

That issue aside, it is a beautiful home.

I wish I was brave enough or had the time to drive to Glencoe, Illinois, knock on the front door of one of those homes and just ask the homeowners, but alas, we are stuck here in Wisconsin. :? Hint: Go to one that has been recently remodeled or looks fresher than the rest. Folks who just remodeled ...

Bernard Pyron - Thanks for the post. It is great that you could be part of the FLW storyline (even in a small way). Two weeks ago in FL, I met a man who was retired. He had worked his entire career at SC Johnson. He had plenty of second hand and some limited first hand knowledge of FLW. Good stuff.....

The move is a good one. Why? It preserves the house and will allow the house to serve its main function: a place to live. It is clear that the house will continue to be assaulted by water. The current owners will either tire of the matter or they’ll go broke. The same fate would hold for any other...

I'm not talking about the grayness of the natural wood. The floor of the deck and the inside of the rail were painted battleship gray. The bits of gray in the wood caused by exposure to the weather are not a problem. Right. Same thought process. However, this time looking out from the living room. ...

Do you think Wright would like the grey color the wood has taken on? Perhaps that is what he intended, but I wonder if he would have preferred that the original reddish color be maintained by sealing the wood. Deke Given the woodsy site, the grey color is very nice. Sealing the wood would almost cr...

The Los Banos sounds interesting. I can actually bunk nearby and get a look before work.

How best to find addresses, etc? Google didn't have much to offer.

Thanks again.

Patterson, CA

I will be spending a few days there, and will have time to look around. I'll have a car.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I'd be more interested in residential. But anything interesting would be nice.

Thanks again.
