Something I don't think mentioned yet, was that Wright misspelled and or just missed a bit on who actually had commissioned the design? Even on the plan drawings? Pauson comes to mind.

Seems a though many of Wright's clients lived a rather long and good life. Must be something to living in a magical space. No?

Then there was the exterior only "Open House" that was staged with CAUTION tape draped all over the building. As if it would fall on ones head at any moment. Really? One other doc worth a look at (PDF): http://tinyurl.com/How-to-live-in-the-southwest That last perspective drawing is just m...

From what little I know of Moby's work, he does seem to be a true and avid fan of architecture. Though a bit quirky, he just may be what the house needs. I suspect he's a friend of Silver, so perhaps the rug will return home someday. I've followed Moby's blog on the good and odd of LA architecture: ...

I am yet to be entirely satisfied with any work with which I have been associated. The life so short, the craft so long to learn. From a true designer and one that the best work is his next. Laurie is a fine architect and a fine human being. What perhaps is most important, is his unending passion f...

I believe this is a life worth celebrating. While on my trip to all things Wright, summer before last, I was fortunate to meet him, shake his hand and when asked if I could take his picture, he replied: "I don't know why you would want a picture of me." Rest in Peace Pedro... 95 is a prett...

Dan and all, This is a great discussion. I'm so grateful to have been a guest - summer before last in the company of you and your wife (who can put together a fabulous meal), Laurie Virr and his lovely companion. Our journey began at the Sweeton house and continued for a total of 57 Wright structure...

I spent some time on these photos and the video earlier today. The Concannon home is (was) very interesting on many levels. I never knew these houses were so close together. While Mr. Goldstein is rather eclectic to say the least, I was confused as how one can be so passionate about one home (Sheats...

Laurie, We all would love to view the plan of your fine home! I've tried so hard to imagine it in my head from the few photos available and our visits. I wished we had been able to tour Jacobs II. I believe Wright's Laurent house to be the best true version of this concept. Please correct me if my l...

SDR,

The model is in one of the bedrooms of the single story B-1, along with another that shows the entire city block with all of them. I have photos of these and the restored single story from our tour this summer with Laurie.

I've missed placed your email!

ekb, I'm currently teaching my middle school students about the fundamentals of architecture. I've been able to hook them with the delightful story on the doghouse. Once I get this dialogue going, I do my best to hold their attention so that I hope to get them to understand the value of materials us...

This is indeed great news. It's a lovely design and a good example of a Usonian modular concept, expanding as the original clients needs changed. I think even better that you knew Ward and Helen. What a relief. It's too great a space to not be lived in and enjoyed. Helen's watercolors belong there. ...
