I saw this house on Wright In Wisconsin a few years back. A very strange, cold house, sort of a Kentuck Knob gone wrong. It could use a good rehab, from what I remember. If I remember correctly, it was owned by a doctor who commuted to either Madison or Milwaukee every day. The kitchen is perhaps th...

Some people really are crazy. Despite this headache, I, and no doubt hundreds of others, appreciate you enduring the this paranoid ignorance so that we may enjoy the fruits of your considerable labors. Thank you!

I can respect an owner wanting his/her privacy and not letting people into the house, although it is frustrating to know that they are in a sense protecting themselves and their lairs from potential bad experiences, and knowing I am not the kind of person who would make it distasteful for them. When...

Most of the information you are looking for is in the Affordable Dreams book. It has the initial letter to Wright, and all the plans for the unbuilt houses you mention. It even has information on the unbuilt second house Wright designed for Goetsch and Winkler, as well as plans for the unbuilt addit...

What furniture is Lord Palumbo using at KK these days? I always love to see the artwork and other items he has in the place.

This is excellent news. Affordable Dreams is perhaps my favorite Wright book, chiefly because I have always loved that house.

I respectfully disagree with those who decry building the unbuilt projects. If they are built with appropriate sensitivity to the blueprints, they are worth something to me, and I will see it when I eventually make it to Buffalo. Aren't we better off having more Wright designs out there than not? Sh...

The fact that the plantation is open every other year is attributable to a deed clause/easement when Silver bought the property so he, contractually, must open it at that time. A person who is involved with the tours told me this at the 2007 tour. So, its unlikely that the property will be closed to...

How many original Wright homeowners are left?

With the news of Mrs. Hagan's passing, I was wondering how many of these inspirational people are still with us. We all owe them a debt of gratitude for their vision and perseverance in not only commissioning these wonderful buildings, but also having the drive to have them built. Anyone have any in...

I too, go for the Goetsch-Winkler. That house is everything that is right about the usonians. That's why I partially modeled my house after it.

Southern California architecture sightseeing

I went to So Cal about five years ago and saw the prominent FLW works (Storer, Ennis, La Miniatura, Sturges) as well as some other famous works (Gamble House, Schindler House, Gehry House, Lovell House, Disney Hall) so I was wondering what other works are out there worth seeing. I'm planning on seei...
