Ocatilla Photo Thread

I have been reading a bunch on Ocatilla lately. Can I request from all Wright Chatters technologically advanced enough to put whatever photos they have available to them of Ocatilla or the site itself, no matter how obscure or circulated, so that we may build a comprehensive collection of images? Th...

Is Hollyhock in that bad of a neighborhood? When I was there (in 2005) it didn't seem that bad. Of course, I'm from Detroit so perhaps its all relative.

It was a spectacular day. I greatly enjoyed meeting and talking with my fellow Wright Chatters as well as touring the houses. All the Wright houses were splendid to tour and doing so with folks who share the same passion as myself was all the more fun. Meeting wrightgeek, Tnguy and Palli and their s...

I gave my talk on the Palmer house yesterday at a retirement community in Ann Arbor and it was a blast. During the Q&A period, it happened that there were several people who had been in the house and knew Mrs. Palmer. She is still with us, although, I am sad to say, in ill health. One woman took...

Wrightgeek, My talk is at the Ann Arbor Glacier Club, barely two miles away (as the crow flies) from the Palmer House. They have a Friday night lecture series about a variety of topics, and I was invited to speak there after someone recommended me after giving a talk about FLW to my Rotary Club. I t...

Question re the Palmer house

Hi all, I am looking for some biographical info on Mr. & Mrs. Palmer for a lecture I am giving on the house this Friday. Specifically, I am wondering when Mr. Palmer passed away and whether Mrs. Palmer is still with us. Thank you! If anyone has any interesting info on the house that you think wo...

As of last summer, the MM Smith house was being worked on by a local architecture firm, Young and Young. I emailed them inquiring about what was going on and they politely replied there was stabilzation and some restoration work, but werent too specific.

I visited this house a few years ago. There was not a soul around and in the carport/garage area, there were a number of newly minted blocks that were waiting to be placed onto the house. I looked at them, looked around, saw nobody and had that moment where I thought I could have my self quite a sou...

I've always been interested in the history of this house prior to the USC stewardship. I've heard that Mr. and Mrs. Freeman hated each other but would not leave the house, plus Mrs. Freeman's connections to the LA artistic community, her affair with Schindler, etc. I would love to read more about it.
