I had the opportunity to visit the home during a fundraiser and I echo the article's sentiments. Messrs Silk and Morgan have been exemplary stewards of the house, and have been generous with showing it for philanthropic and other purposes. They should get an award of some kind. As an aside, my wife ...

Off the top of my head, I have:

The folks who run this annual tour do an outstanding job. I am not able to attend this year, but I know it will be a fun day for all involved.

There have been three or four Wright houses that I've been in that I have audibly gasped at how stunning they were, and this house was one of them.

Brad and Angelia decided to open the doors? That being said, if I lived closer to that area, I would totally do it. This may be the only opportunity to tour the authentic Wright cottage for maybe decades. I would find some interest in the larger house, even if to gasp at the horrid stones in the wal...

Interesting discussion. I had never thought about a situation like this, a pedigreed, yet seemingly discarded, element being added to a house in a restoration. While no one would dispute that a house owner can do what he wants with his house (preservation easements aside), this is a just, but non-bi...

I am sorry to hear about this...my wife and I got married in nearby Chagrin Falls, and we spent our wedding night there. I wish the Penfields the best and thank them for making this wonderful house available to us and many others to enjoy.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Thank you all again for another year of Wright Chat. I continue to be delighted by the quality of posts, information, and debate about our favorite architect, and appreciate the time you all put forth in your posts. I lurk more often than I post, but I try to contribute when I have something worthwh...

Perhaps then, ClarkMcGill, you would be so kind as to enlighten our ignorance and let us know what is going on with this house?

I met him the first time I visited Taliesin West. He gave a talk to the tour group I was on. He mentioned that he was Wright's physician so I asked him something to the effect of "what kind of patient was Mr. Wright?". His mood turned from pleasant to dark in a moment. He took a step towar...

I've been to about a hundred, inside about 30 of those. My favorites are Goetsch-Winckler, Penfield (spent my wedding night there), and Kentuck Knob. An overnight visit to the Palmer House and to see the interior of any of the California block houses are on my bucket list. My highlight wuold have to...

I once asked a Meyer May docent how much the restoration cost, and he replied with a twinkle in his eye that the folks in charge of resotration were given an unlimited budget by Steelcase, and exceeded it.
