Re: Should there be a new social media closed group for Wright?
I’m trying to wrap my head around what would differentiate the Facebook Legacy Group from The Wright Attitude?

SDR and Owen Collins- Isn’t it Affleck in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan? With some liberties (errors?) taken by the illustrator to help market the curvaceous Olds?

SDR- I just meant that yet another attempt at channeling Wright (7000 sf $2,950,000 in White Lake, Michigan) was unsuccessful. It’s a future teardown or extensive remodel, but the site is wonderful.

Re: Drawings Copyright Question
Maybe some sort of disclaimer would alleviate the concerns?
Are there any attorneys out there who could chime in?

Re: Article: 'Chair Designs and Architects'
The chair I linked is Knoll. Is there something that seems wrong? It better be, at 6400 Euros! The earliest frames in Europe were chrome plated. Knoll switched to stainless steel; now they offer both: https://www.knoll.com/product/barcelona-chair?section=design http://www.knoll-int.com/home/by-desig...

Re: Article: 'Chair Designs and Architects'
They couldn’t find a photo of a real Barcelona chair? The top cushion always rests on the bottom and there should be no seams at the corners (unless it’s one from the 1920s, which this is not). https://www.designcollectors.com/en/knoll/ludwig-mies-van-der-rohe/chairs/2301-barcelona-chair-spec That’s...

Re: Japanese House, an example
Exquisite photographs. I’ve always loved the contrast of grey concrete or slate and oiled unpainted wood. And the modern elements integrate perfectly with the traditional.

Re: Article: Cancel Culture pays a visit to Philip Johnson
Mies was the director of The Armour Institute (now IIT), and living in Chicago in 1945, having left Germany in 1937 after the Nazis closed the Bauhaus in 1933. (So much for “official style”.) He designed Johnson’s NY apartment in the mid thirties, one of his only commissions after the closure. As di...

Re: Article: Cancel Culture pays a visit to Philip Johnson
Oh definitely Johnson was aware of the drawings and that the house would be white. Johnson was hanging on Mies’ every word, and the German undoubtedly relied on him, since he was in a new country, struggling with English, and Johnson was his most loyal supporter and unofficial student.

Re: Article: Cancel Culture pays a visit to Philip Johnson
After Farnsworth, all of the houses were white: McCormick, Greenwald, and the unbuilt 50’ by 50’. And remember that Tugendhat was white, too. All houses were brick or white. From what I’ve read, he wanted to differentiate the house surrounded by nature from the building surrounded by other manmade s...
