This is a good deal for this house. Glencoe is a wonderful suburb near Lake Michigan north of Chicago. My guess is that a lot of this size a year or so ago would have sold for 800K+. This is a very wealthy suburb. The house may be a bit small and it is close to a commuter rail road. But, if a nice r...

Granted Peterm that there are many lovely suburban communities but I think the majority consist of houses like his "dumb split level in the middle of nowhere" example. Additionally, ugly strip malls are the norm as well. Our public spaces here are typically either nonexistent or horrible. ...

SDR That was the best 9 minutes I have spent in a while! Very funny, sad and true. The future is here and this guy gets it. Kunstler has tremendous insights which are very provocative. Really made me think. From my limitted knowledge of Broadacres, I suppose Wright wanted to condense and centralize ...

SDR Some of your points are well taken. However, I have seen Wright bathrooms with triangular showers with 40 to 42 inches per side. Absurd. Some of his Bathrooms are so small that two people can not move around together within such a bathroom at the same time. Times have changed with an increasing ...

One other thought.

Wright seemed to design bathrooms as afterthoughts without much regard.

It would be interesting to imagine what he might have designed had he been asked to focus on a bath with luxurious dimensions.

Are there any interesting Wright bathrooms out there?

Here is a link to an article in North Shore Magazine on the Glore house.

The third photo down is of the master bath. It is quite nice. The shower is at the rear of the room with the yellow tile.

Is it me or are bathrooms by Wright dreary?

Wood or brick in a tub or shower surround is just a very bad idea.

I have seen Wright bathrooms with tile surrounds and they look fine.

"An" with words that start with vowels and "a" with words that start with consonants. Words that begin with "u" are either way, e.g. an understudy, a university. On a somewhat related topic, Wright appeared to be very well spoken from the videos I have watched. Comments...

Very interesting. I will be frank and say that what brought this topic on was that I was reading some posts this morning and they were replete with spelling errors, no capitals at the beginning of sentences, etc... As a result, I realized that I was focusing on the errors rather than the topic. No b...

Jim,

It was intentional.

Outside in,

No. But if you use one, nobody will notice.

Excuse me, but I've got to run to the washroom. I have to deposit some hyphens.

Grammar and spelling breaking down on Wright Chat.

It really takes away from some of he posts when the grammar and spelling are poor. My hope is that it is merely a function of typing too fast. My own skills are fair to poor but I do reread my posts before I hit the submit button.

The Glore house addition had a flat screen tv installed on a wall which was facing ceiling height windows with a southern exposure. LCD screens do not reflect like plasma screens. There was no problem with this installation.
