Re: Berger

I took it in February, 2019. The finish appears to be multiple coats of clear polyurethane or other varnish, with a fairly glossy surface. Photographs can be deceiving as to textures; multiple shots, with the right lighting, can reveal what's there. Not sure when the wood was refinished. I have a pi...

Re: Article: E.H. Pitkin Summer Lodge - Sapper Island, Canada

I don't think I've looked at these drawings: https://library.artstor.org/#/search/Wright%20Pitkin;page=1;size=24 We have seen the perspective view. It shows a balcony or terrace running around three sides of the second floor, serving the six bedrooms. The construction drawings, however, include a ba...

Re: David Hunt

As an aside, certain treasures are hidden at Artstor because they are misfiled. As an example, some good interior photos of Boulter are found under "Clifton": https://library.artstor.org/#/search/Wr ... =1;size=24

Re: David Hunt

I don't recognize the third one, right off; it's not Tracy, is it ?

Photos of the traveling Usonian Automatic of the early 'nineties are exceedingly rare---an early instance of OSB architectural (display) construction ?

Re: Berger

I assume that you mean this intersection: http://sdrdesign.com/Berger6.jpg No drawing is found which details this juncture; you are correct that this is where the second phase of construction would have joined the first. (I am not sure that the construction of the bedroom wing didn't take place befo...

Re: Virtual Tour: Imperial Hotel

Imagine the hours that were spent, over a two-year period, to create that model. Congratulations and thanks, to Razin Khan and the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust.

The main dining hall was Wright's cathedral or Hagia Sophia ?

Re: DailyWright 7.18.22

Thanks to Randy Henning for reminding us of that resource; it was foolish of me to have forgotten its existence on my shelves. And the essay by Gregory M Brewer is uniquely important, being one of those watershed events that demolishes a long-held misconception, in this case about the genesis and su...

Re: Video: "Frank Lloyd Wright Explained in 6 Minutes"

He could have made his point, such as it was, more effectively with a photo of the same building from the same angle, taken a little earlier in the day, so there was bright sunlight on the east terrace parapet. Another few photos, of Fallingwater or other buildings, would of course have helped. Yes,...
