Mark - I should be doing my own work instead of checking Wright Chat. I read your post with a lump in my throat. I have been a volunteer, a tour guide, since 1986. I don't always get to meet the apprentices. I had more in common with those who were coming up when I started. Your ideas are spot on. I...

Yes, i understand and agree. What would be better, a letter from FLW stating you are competent or a University sheep skin. I KNOW which one I would take ! In a heartbeat ! I would be more in favor of what they are trying now, with an environment they call "immersion" - a full description i...

I am sure this is one possibility that is being explored. Make no mistake, continuing to establish accreditation was, as is, an expensive, time consuming task. More so, when you are outside the accepted academic "norm". Jay Pace and I would speak about these issues, more than 15 years ago.

Victor either already has or will soon step down as Dean. I do not remember the exact wording or time frame when he made the announcement. I believe it was several months ago. The CEO, Sean Malone, assembled a group to study and present alternatives to the 'accreditation' model. Sadly, Frank Henry, ...

FLW School of Architecture

As reported in today's Arizona Republic, Valley & State section :

Wright School halts its fall term.
In lieu of fall admissions, the school is offering the T-W Immersion Program.
$4,000 for 8 weeks = 6 credits.

Stephen Nemtin

It is with much sadness that I report the passing of Stephen Nemtin, a Taliesin Fellow. Stephen had been in poor health for quite some time. More information on the Foundation web site.

George Lewis House " Spring House " Florida

The FLW FDN has posted a link to a person who has taken some excellent photos of this house. This persons name is : Krystyn Pecora which you may or may not be able to find on Facebook. In lieu of this, or with some assistance from those more 'tuned in' - it is possible to go to my Facebook site, scr...

Paul : I have not seen or received any information, but will pass it along if I do. Frank was a great guy and was one of the few who spearheaded and worked diligently to see that the David Wright House was saved. He shared my complete disdain and revulsion for the previous owners.

Yes, I am in agreement, Wes' full story and contribution have also not been fully documented or reported. Maybe some academic will pick up the task.
Here is a possible working title :

It has been indeed a difficult first half of 2013 at T-W. Cornelia, then Dr. Joe and just this Friday, Frank Henry. Frank was one of the original volunteer tour guides, when the program was formed in 1986. He had spent 30 years with the firm of Weaver & Drover. Frank spent many hours with appren...

Dr. Joe was a true gentleman. A navy veteran of WW2. I spoke with him briefly last Sunday before my tours. Physically he was showing his age, but he was mobile and as alert as ever. His daughter Shawn continues to lead the excelling Educational Outreach Program at T-W. RIP Dr. Joe.

The first table is just inside the front entry way and next to the kitchen. I believe, but do not remember, that it is secured to the wall and can not be moved. I could be wrong. The far table allows for a great view of the fireplace. Perfect for evening meals. Again, I believe that this table can b...
