On Gene Masselink : In all my years at T-W, I have never heard ANYONE speak of him without respect: total respect for his art and unquestioned respect for his hard work and complete dedication. The complete story of and about Gene Masselink remains to be written. On the newsletter : I have only seen...

I have a copy of " John Lautner " by Barbara-Ann Campbell - Lange publisher : Taschen which has a great b&w photo of Lautner with his drafting table outside near the reflecting pond at T-W - also looks like Wes Peters is a table or two next to him - so my vote is for accepting Lautner ...

I believe this might be the " At Taliesin" column, written off and on for several years, mostly by apprentices. I do not think the entire effort was ever published in a book, but snippets appear or are referenced in books by apprentices. Anyone else ? Are we on the right track ?

I was able to view this timeline. It was "hung" in the pergola along the side of the drafting room and was quite an impressive effort.

Jeff : I am still following this unbelieveable and most informative thread. Many kudos to you for your consistent high quality model renderings. Since I am not an architect I often struggle with the written descriptions, drawings and even photographs. Guerrero's photo's are stunning but they do not ...

Just a few observations and comments from my recent tour ; the woodwork in the photos looks quite better than in person - maybe it was "photoshopped' by the realtor ? Only speculation. Fireplaces - two each, one in the living room and the other in the master bedroom at the end of the hallway. T...

I have both books and agree with everyone above about Guerrero. If you are more interested in his life story or in photography, I strongly recommend " Pedro Guerrero, A photographer's journey" Princeton Architectural Press 2007. The Stoller book - featuring T-W has many photos ( some in co...

Wrightgeek : When it comes to Taliesin, sometimes one must keep repeating " It's only a movie....It's only a movie..." John Ottenheimer also affectionately known as " Johnny O " was an apprentice I beleive, from 1953 to 1970. Also, I believe that he 'returned' for a brief time in...

Greetings All : According to Arnold Roy : The original clerestory boards in the Dining Cove were probably installed in 1940. The original perf boards were boards with the cut out - no glass in between - open to the outside. Arnold further says that the design is most likely by FLW and is an abstract...

the 'perfs' at T-W are located in the area now known as the Wrights private dining room, located just off the Garden Room. I will be there this Sunday to give tours so perhaps Arnold Roy or John Rattenbury can provide some added info. I must say this is one of the best threads I have seen in the las...

Greetings All : Just a FYI....sent and rec'd an e mail from Karyn Osterman - Legal Counsel FLWFDN - T/West - they will look into the advertisement. Probably will send an e mail or letter if they deem it to invasive. Paul and all : Keep on the lookout for those who might desecrate the FLW name ! Mich...

Paul : Thanks for this posting. Descriptions in this manner make my blood boil. Built in seating : WOW ! That's FLW. Windows up high : WOW ! That's FLW. Mitered windows: WOW ! That's FLW. The statement does not say, " In the style of" or "Similar to" or any other qualifier. Since...

my guess would be that the correct location was asked not to be disclosed, so I would have to select either of the Barrington Hills houses, due to the proximity to "Palatine". Also, Barrington and Barrington Hills are very up scale communities.

FLW & LEGO

Greetings All : Just saw a press release indicating that the FLWFDN, in association with LEGO, has liscensed both the Guggenheim Museum and Fallingwater to be reproduced, using special designed kits. So the question is : do I buy just one, for myself or one for myself and one for my grandson ! Michael
