Wrightgeek : WOW. What a theory. After years and years of taking hundreds and hundreds of people on tours of Taliesin West, and of course hearing more than one "whopper", I have to say the person in the blog has made a tremendous leap, which I must discount completely. Or, better yet, I ca...

Prairie Mod : To get some type of info on TAA built structures in the Phoenix area I would suggest contacting the FLW Archives - ask for Indira Berndston. She can either provide the info or direct you to the correct person. As you perhaps know, TAA as a firm was dissolved several years I am in agree...

My condolence's to Mr. Beharka's family and to his friends who post on this site. To my mind, Organic Architecture did not end in April of 1959. It's cause continued to be advanced by the men and women who studied with Wright . Time continues to thin the ranks of those who had direct interaction wit...

David : Thanks for posting this. Some nice views of the Gordon House. However, it is presently 9:15 AM in Tempe, Arizona and after viewing all this great looking food, my stomach is beginning to RUMBLE ! It was very nice to hear the comment about all the proceeds going directly to the house. As the ...

Paul : thanks for posting this. Very interesting. IMO the Kappe Brothers have always been on the cutting edge of a special form of organic architecture. Many years ago, with a group of docents from T-W, we were able to tour their home/studio. To me, their home/studio was almost disorienting. I had t...

Alden B Dow

Just finished " Alden B Dow Midwestern Modern" by Diane Maddox 240 pages - a very nice overview of Dow's history and architectural development, with extensive photos, plans and commentary on his Midland, Michigan home / studio. Also included is a chronological list of both built and unbuil...

I was fortunate to visit the house earlier this year. The realtor was giving a tour to several employees at T-West and I happened to hear about it at the last second, while I was giving a tour at T-W. Drove to the house like a maniac. Did not have an opportunity to grab any photo gear. We spent abou...

SDR : don't know about the mill pond in Wisconsin, but to my knowledge there are three major 'water' features at T-W. A. the reflecting pond. B. after FLW's death, Olga had a swimming pool built in the area that was just to the east of the garden room, near the Wright's sleeping quarters - this was ...

Peterm: approx depth is no more than 4 foot at center DRN : one of the major early uses of the reflecting pond was as a ready source of water in case of a fire, since as you correctly stated, downtown Scottsdale was, in those early days of T-W, quite a distance. Shea Blvd, the major east-west road, ...

Greetings TnGuy : thanks for sending this article. It has been fwd to several people at Taliesin West. I take some exception to the term 'swimming pool'. This is NOT a swimming pool. Frank, Olga, Wes, et al were NOT doing laps. It's correct designation is : reflecting pond. I am glad the provider of...

Very interesting comments on the Price Tower. I stayed there about 2 years ago in the 2 level suites and expereinced the view of a powerfull Oklahoma thunderstorm from those double height windows. Yes, it could have been all done better, but thank goodness it still even EXISTS.
