Isn't it possible that the lighting behind the brick screen in Mudford's photo is part of the photographer's staging on the shot? It seems odd that we would not have seen this in prior photos, and even more so that Wrght would have illuminated a heating vent.

Jmcnally, it's the ground level planting bed and adjacent elements between the sidewalk and the curb in front of the Studio entrance. Necessitated by curb replacement, and the items are reconstructions, not original.

SDR, there was a version of the desk with a cut out to place a typewriter on the lower work surface, as well as an adding machine. Another version included file bins.
