Checking the US Census: Anna, Maginel and Jennie lived in Oak Park (then Cicero) in 1900. But no addresses are given on the census forms. FLW and family are the preceeding entry. The property is noted as owned, rather than mortgaged or rented. Anna lived alone in Oak Park in 1910. The census form li...

And yet another one exists. My copy is from 1967. It is identical to the version on ebay with the addition of Allen L. Davison and deletion of David Dodge on the staff roster. The missing page 6 has three short paragraphs continuing the Student Conduct section, and Facilities descriptions of the Dra...

The central portion of Richardson's asylum in Buffalo is open as the Hotel Henry. Plans a while ago included other portions of the complex to be developed as an architectural museum, and part of an educational institution. Not sure what's happening on those.

I'm all for free speech and the expression of thoughts, ideas and opinions. But I visit this site for news, views and opinions on the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, and the occasional mention of other architects. I don't mind the Trump/Donghia thread as long as it remains unto itself. Those interested ...

Those kitchen floor tiles may be original to some other house, but not this one! The article states that the previous floor was cork, but I honestly don't recall. All of the other Berndtson houses that I have seen had red concrete floors in the kitchen. In the photo under the headline, the block col...

I first saw the house and met the Marshalls in 1970, when the house was still in original condition. The wood color has not changed, and the concrete block color in the living room is as I remember it. The Cemesto ceiling panels have been painted; the original color was a blue-grey, close to the col...
