Update from Mobius Sought
Mobius, how goes the building process in New Zealand? Any pictures of your Jacobs I-style house to share with fellow Wright Chatters? BTW, have you ever been to the Tresillian vineyard and bed & breakfast in West Melton ( http://www.tresillian.co.nz/ ), with its house "inspired by the Prair...

The brickwork is beautiful, and the deep raking of the horizontal joints creates that wonderful horizontal effect that makes the masonry in FLLW houses so unique. However, someone's good intentions to accentuate that effect on P-L appear to have gone awry. On my last visit, I noticed that many of th...

Thank you so much, Ed for the description and SDR for the scan. It does seem a little odd to have a single-door entry opening into a narrow gallery. Nonetheless, that does appear to well utilize Wright's concepts of the hidden entrance and compression-and-release. Plus, the larger plan appears to ma...

The Initial Plans for a Larger Pope-Leighey
The Pope-Leighey House website -- ( http://www.popeleighey1940.org/chronology.htm ) -- says that the initial 1939 plans called for an 1800 sq. ft house, but were revised in 1940 to the 1200 sq. ft. house that was ultimately built. Has anyone ever seen the initial 1939 plans? I was curious how the ad...

Brangelina at Bear Run
A story to make you chuckle...or fume:

I cannot help thinking that FLLW would have LOVED to have given these two a grand tour...well, maybe just Angelina.

Kalamazoo House: Wright or Not?
There is a listing for a house on Taliesin Drive in Kalamazoo that purports to be FLLW-designed, and certainly looks the part, but does not appear to be one of the four Parkwyn houses:

If That's Frank, I'll Eat My Porkpie Hat
An article in the Uniontown, PA Herald-Standard recounts FLLW's visits to the Connellsville, PA area during the building of Fallingwater: http://www.heraldstandard.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17420998&BRD=2280&PAG=461&dept_id=480247&rfi=6 The interesting article is accompanied by a phot...

RE: PBS Doc'y on Frank Gehry
I was struck by Gehry's discussion of the childhood experience that may have subconsciously put him on the path to becoming an architect: building things with wood pieces his aunt brought him. I instantly thought of the Froebel blocks that inspired FLLW. Good lesson to all parents who want their kid...

RE: Burlingham House
Ms. Burlingham: I could not be more pleased than to have my query answered by the daughter of Lloyd Burlingham. Your details on Frank Lloyd Wright and the never-constructed house are fantastic -- thank you so much. You and others may be interested to know that your father's divorce from Hilda, and t...

RE: Frank's Home
I'd be very interested to see this play. Harkening back to a string on this chat board many moons ago about who would play FLLW in a movie of his life, I'm particularly interested to see Peter Weller take on the role of a 60-year-old Wright at the low point of his career.

RE: Burlingham House
PDean, The negative references I mentioned are found in an earlier string in this Wright Chat Forum entitled "Frank Lloyd Wright House Plans." Here is a link to that string--see the 2nd and 5th postings from the top (one calling the house "Burlingame"): http://www.savewright.org/...
