Number of Usonians
It is humbling to find that I contributed to the previous discussion. One of our information placards at the Weltzheimer/Johnson house mentioned over 100 as the count. I had remembered closer to 60 as a number, Maybe we should just leave the number off the description, when we reprint the information.

Is there a definitive count for the number of Usonian houses actually built?

Pope Leighey
At the Weltzheimer/Johnson house we talk about how after WWII, cypress was not in ready supply. Redwood was located on the West Coast and brought to Ohio in logs and milled locally. Redwood now seems like an expensive wood, but in 1947 was comparable to other woods. I sometimes think that the weathe...

Resor House
The Resor project. A great project and missed opportunity. Thanks for the name of the third house. I knew it was in Connecticut, but couldn't remember the name. Has anything been published on it? I seem to remember a magazine article, but no date and no publication name.

Spaulding Print Room
The Spaulding print collection (or a least part of it) wound up at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Type "Frank Lloyd Wright" in the search tab on the website and it brings up anything related to Wright. There are great period photos of the Imperial Hotel which illustrate how truly wonde...

White House
Why did the man who currently lives in the White House feel that he had to tease with the suggestion of these "tapes"? Oh wait, that happened in Season Five of "Apprentice". Or didn't it?

Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy Conference
Does anyone know if there are plans to record the various talks at this year's Conference. I will not be able to attend and it does seem like a very distinguished array of speakers. I have tried contacting the Conservancy directly but the link is not cooperating.

Farnsworth
The Farnsworth House should be kept out of any discussion of interiors. The Palumbo remodeling is only a "Disneyland" version of Mies's intentions for the interior. The collaboration with the client ended before that could be resolved. The information I have gleaned about what the interior...

Barcelona Chair
I am interested in the size of the Barcelona Chairs. Where can I find information on the original size? Checking with Knoll International, I find the size to be basically 30" square. Were the original models closer to 39"? I realize that the chairs used at the German Pavilion in Barcelona ...

Side Entrances
I had heard (I think on a tour of the Robie House probably sometime in the 1980's) that Mr. Wright "hid" the entrances to his houses to give privacy to his clients. You had to know the occupants and where the door to the house was to gain access. This has always seemed to me to be an accep...

F Schumacher and Company Taliesin Line
Design 501 is definitely one of the original patterns. And I believe one of the more usable fabrics in the current collection. It appears as though Design 301 was a wallpaper in the Taliesin Line. I think it was used at Price Tower The Cleveland Museum of Art has a selection of the designs in their ...

Usonian
Now you have made me think. I recall some reference to Fallingwater as being Usonian, but don't remember where. It certainly was a take on a simpler way of living, away from the tensions of Urban Life. A kind of Petit Trianon for the Kaufmanns, away from their busy life in Pittsburgh et al. That it ...
