Re: DailyWright 6.22.22

The freestanding garage was to include a brick walled compound. In 1911, the Heaths had Wright redesign the ...

Re: Donald Leslie Johnson, (2 January 1930 – 9 May 2022)
His 1987 study of Wright's work in the Bitter Root mountains remains one of the best researched and insightful explorations of the Como Orchards project that I have encountered.

Re: Conservancy Fundraiser: "Frank Lloyd Wright Evening at Penwern"
Michael Miner has been removed from Wright Chat for his continued disruptive behavior, both in this forum and in other venues. The Conservancy welcomes spirited discussion and constructive feedback on our work, but accusations and ad hominem attacks will not be tolerated.

Schwartz house is a downsized derivation of Graycliff
The back to back fireplaces at Schwartz are a derivation of the back to back fireplaces in the living / dining areas at Graycliff. Wright explored several orientations for the two fireplaces there but built a configuration with the smaller fireplace at a 45 degree angle to the larger fireplace.

Re: Article: Matthews House to be considered for NRHP
Should be noted that this house was designed with an intricate roof shingle geometry, the same ridge details first used on the Baker house in 1909, then Taliesin and Graycliff. But at the Mathews house it was adapted to the 60 degree angles of the plan and the asymmetrical roof section. Each one of ...

I have found Bob's 1968 article to still be one of the most informative pieces written about Mason City architecture. The late Larry Woodin advised the Building Conservancy's Conference Committee regarding the 2012 conference " that it must be scheduled as soon as the Park inn restoration was c...
