Re: Plans of Jacobs House II
Then using what I garnered from all that, I made a design for a client on their rural property. This has an outward aspect ( rather than inward) to capture as much winter light as possible - when it rains alot - hence the attached glasshouse. I think it would have a been a rather nice house, but ala...

Re: Plans of Jacobs House II
I wonder how he went.? I studied the house back in the 90's after I purchased the Jacobs book from the Taliesin west book store. If I remember correctly I even got to look at the drawings in the Taliesin vault - thanks Bruce for that - was a delight . Those might be at the Avery archive now? I made ...

Ive used his wilderness scale to show others the value of productive design as compared to consumptive design!
It really is a fantastic( and simplisitic) way of measuring. - How would Mr Wrights design fair?

Re: Bernard Schwartz House
another interesting note on the drawings, in this case 1:1 section detail sheet . in the trellis roof framing- it has a note saying spray 0-flake and points to a squiggly line of an internal fascia above the glass doors - this I interpret to mean "spray some insulation gunk to the interior fram...

Re: Bernard Schwartz House
I wonder if the word superimposed is used by a specific taliesin person, or was in general use by all and to mean something specifically. In looking at the Schwartz drawings ( july 1939) where the word is used - it seems to be in context of a plan, and as a note for the timber joists - either floor ...

Avery also have EJ Kaufman archives, which includes letters, photos , engineers reports and drawings of the Bear Run house. I wonder if these are a more complete set of drawings-compared to the FLW foundation archives see https://findingaids.library.columbia.edu/ead/nnc-a/ldpd_8971977/dsc/2#subserie...

I wonder if anyone knows what the word : "superimposed" means on the Taliesin drawings - particularly in the framing plans, usually associated with a description of the joists ie joists 3 - 2 x 4" superimposed 1'9" o.c.

Re: Archives to Avery Library/ Columbia University
Additionally just prior to receiving this email, I did receive a file of the Lloyd Lewis house drawings - most of which have previously been published. Still I thoroughly recommend anyone request a drawings search of any of the FLW projects they have listed. This list of available documents ( ie FLW...
