Re: new book: A Brave and Lovely Woman

This is Mark Borthwick, Thanks, Paul, for bringing this up. There will be a virtual book launch on March 14, 7:30 pm ET hosted by Taliesin Preservation. I will talk about the book and do a Q&A.. https://www.taliesinpreservation.org/event/a-brave-and-lovely-woman-virtual-book-release/ I'm not an ...

Re: Photo of FLW age 33

Good points, thanks. I am ambivalent about if. If kept to a small size on the page it might get by despite the low quality. An image that newspapers used around that time is apparently the one he preferred but it seems to be derived from one taken when he was younger.

Re: Photo of FLW age 33

It's frustrating if there's no information on it even from a forum like this. The key variables are 1) when it was created and 2) whether it was ever published. I am doing due diligence in hopes of using it in my book about FLW and Mamah. I think I could claim Fair Use but have yet to discuss it wit...

I'm looking for suggestions of where the photo of "Wright age 33" on steinerag.com came from. Whom to credit or contact for reproduction rights? Site owner doesn't know.

Re: Drennan's "Death in a Prairie House"

Yes, it has to be approached carefully. However, there were two testimonies that seem credible. Harper Harrison, one of the deputies who captured Carlton, testified that Carlton told him Brodelle had been abusive and that it motivated his actions. Dr. Wallis G. Lincoln, who treated Carlton in the ja...

Re: Drennan's "Death in a Prairie House"

Speaking as Mamah Bothwick’s second cousin thrice removed and the author of her forthcoming biography, I can only heartily concur. The chronology of my book naturally requires me to reserve my description of the murders until near the end. Here is my endnote #2 for that chapter (all this is in draft...

Excellent catch, I had not read that note in the Intro. I don't think there's is more that could be called a trilogy, at least I haven't seen it.

I have flipped through it, looks very useful, but saw in it that Alofsin was informed of Wright's emergency passport application in July 1910. I found that passport too last year. It was approved for "travel in Turkey" (obviously Constantinople) with his "wife" "Mamah Borthw...
