Any chance of getting a copy of this model so I could try it out on my 3d printer?

So is every issue of Arch Record available on that database? That's a fantastic resource if it is searchable.

Thanks for the great information. Should I assume sea grass has a similar texture as sisal...which I find rather prickly?

Thanks. So that checkerboard effect comes form laying the tiles in alternating pattern? This wasn't a carpet that was rolled across the floor. The mid-century architect I'm researching used it in several Seattle houses. I wonder if he got the idea from Harris or if this was a popular product with mo...

Harris Floor Covering?

Anyone know what sort of carpeting this is? It's a pix from Hamilton Harris house in Fellowship Park. Thing is, a northwest mid-century architect also used this same sort of checkerboard looking floor covering. http://architectsandartisans.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/harwell/fellowship-park-house-lo...

I always chalked up his tight lipped speaking as both age and something common to the upper mid-west. Which raises some questions. Did Wright wear dentures? Did he ever have a pronounced Wisconsin accent? And radio was popular in the 1930s...did he do any local or national radio interviews? Granted,...

I was wondering if that was simply a matter of old age...and if he was perhaps more expressive or animated in his 60s or even 50s.

Has anyone researched his media appearances. There's a book on every other aspect of his life....

Thanks, sorry for not looking closer. Did this sort of geometric lamp pre-date Wright's tall lamps?

And I never thought of Lovell Beach House as a post and beam structure, but you could make that argument.

That Hugh Downs interview has always struck me as strange...very scripted. Did Wright ever do any audio interviews as a slightly younger man...maybe in the 1920s or 30s?

I was referring to this image and the rising stack of mini shelves on the left hand side.

What is the wooden creation to the left side of the photo with the stack lamps in the Beach house....that is a mouthful...but this appears to be a stack of shelves though they would have little practical purpose at that height.

Was is purely a piece of wooden decoration?

I have to agree with one letter writer after the article...that this house should have been sold to a private party who would have restored it. Look at the state of the other block houses in private hands...and now look at Freeman. Granted Freeman may have more problems than the others in terms of f...

An interesting detail about the outriggers on the Perkins House of 1955 is that the vertical support seems to be notched so that the outer side continues up to cover the end of the horizontal. It's an important detail to help convey the "turn" from horizontal to vertical. The same effect c...

Hines' book on Nuetra has a photo of the "Earl Street Reunion House" of 1949 with classic spider leg or outrigger supports (page 208). There is a sort-of spider leg in the Kelton apartments of 1942 but it doubles as the support of a trellis. The Kaufmann House of '46 has external supports,...

Thanks so much to both of your. Really clears away the fog for me. Never thought of that inversion of Wright's internal supports that result in a corner cantilever, with Nuetra reversing that. I'll pull some Nuetra books off the shelf and see when he did this first.
