Says it is being sold "as is," which suggest condition issues. But the house hasn't been painted, interior or exterior (something of a miracle). Built ins seem intact, and some original free-standing furniture.

That tale might be in one of the Storer entries on the house. But I've definitely read it somewhere--the stairs were meant to double as seats for students. I think that was also the explanation for the carpeting? But I'm not as positive of that.

I think those horizontal ribs are beautiful. But they don't seem to be resting comfortably with the brick fireplace, especially near the ceiling. There doesn't seem to be any relationship between the two elements. Perhaps it's just a poor photo angle.

DRN--I had the same reaction at the house: This reminds me a lot of Wright, but I don't think Wright would have done it precisely the way. There are seemingly small things, like the mitered windows at triangular points. In Wright, you feel the windows would have met at the point of the triangle. Her...
