Re: San Francisco Call Building 3d model

David - I too noticed the absence of the Call building in that particular issue of the FLlW Quarterly . Refer to issue Number 1 Volume 4 (2016) of the Journal of Organic Architecture + Design . Its entirely on the history of the Call building. The building was to have been built on the eastern corne...

Re: Arizona Bitmore

Albert McArthur was unquestionably (legally) the Architect-of-Record of the Arizona Biltmore. However, for more, see the Journal of Organic Architecture + Design issue, "The Biltmore Hotel: A Creative Convergence" (Volume 2, Number 2, 2014). Starting on page 15, both participants - Albert ...

Re: Article: FLW, Jr. and Wayfarer's Chapel

The Anderson residence, designed by Aaron Green in 1958, is within walking distance (on the beach side of Sea Coast Drive). Does anyone know anything about its proximity to this horror?

Re: Article: Alfred Browning Parker's "Sea Aerie" House demolished - (Coral Gables, FL)

Parker's Gables Estates house (aka House Beautiful's Pace Setter '65) is illustrated on page 15 (illustration 21) in his You and Architecture book. As far as his Royal Road house in Coconut Grove (aka House Beautiful's Pace Setter '54), its been probably 15 years since I laid eyes on it but last I s...

Re: Article: Alfred Browning Parker's "Sea Aerie" House demolished - (Coral Gables, FL)

You might also reference Alfred Browning Parker: Miami's Maverick Modernist published by the University Press of Florida in 2011.

The loss of Alfred Browning Parker's Gables Estates house is a tragedy of biblical proportions. Its a dagger to the heart of his architectural legacy . . .

Re: Article: "Why Do Homes by Modern Masters Keep Getting Torn Down?"

I just found out this past week that one of Alfred Browning Parker's masterworks and undeniably his best preserved extant house - and one of the many houses he designed and built for himself - was recently purchased for $36,000,000 and the new owners intend to tear it down. Unbelievable, to say the ...

There are references to both Parker and Parker's garage project in my book, At Taliesin: Newspaper Columns by Frank Lloyd Wright & the Taliesin Fellowship, 1934-1937 (Southern Illinois University Press, 1992).

Re: Sure, we can call anything "Frank Lloyd Wright"

The Ocala house was designed by Alfred Browning Parker . . a later work (1979) by the masterful South Florida architect who got the attention of Frank Lloyd Wright (and his praises) for his House Beautiful Pace Setter house of 1954. Its featured on pages 290-294 in my book The Architecture of Alfred...

Significant research by Greg M. Brewer on the Roloson project(s) was recently published in the 63-page 2020 number 1 issue of the Journal of Organic Architecture + Design titled "Rediscovering Frank Lloyd Wright's Roloson Houses and the Unbuilt Roloson Apartments."

Re: DailyWright 7.13.22

Tafel in German is loosely translated as Plate (Plate XXVIII in this case). Unfortunately the Wasmuth plates published by Dover is a cheap reproduction. The Wasmuth portfolio has been reproduced and reduced into book form at least 6 times and none really do it justice (although I find the 1998 Rizzo...

Re: For sale: Gary McCowan house - Bessie, OK

There is a Friends of Kebyar Journal on Gary's work (Volume 26.1, #75, 2010) and a followup issue that features some of his more recent work (35.1, #89, 2020).
