Many of the rug designs for the Prairie homes that people associate to Wright were created by George Mann Niedecken. Those designs are pretty well separated out from Wright in many books. No one on this website will make that mistake, but I've had a few interior designers talk to me about "Wrig...

Robert Green Website and his appearance on HGTV

Here is another link to Robert Green's archived website. It also includes some pictures of his appearance on "Dream Builders" on HGTV several years ago. I have that segment recorded on an a VCR tape somewhere. I will try to find it and transfer to a WMV format. I talked with Robert several...

Pricing of Licensed Wright furniture

Just read an article on the recently completed Internataion Home Furnishings Market show in High Point NC. It stated that nearly 25% of the furniture manufacturers introduced "Mission" and "Prairie" style furniture. It also mentioned Copeland - the new offical FLW Foundation furn...

Whiting, IN house

John, Very interesting site you're creating. I did a quick run through of various links on your site and it was interesting to see the William Drummond house in Mason City, IA for sale for $250,000. Don't know if that is a reasonable price for Mason City, but it would be a steal for the Chicago area...

Nice pictures, and your post is the same day as the Chicago Tribune article on people in the Chicago area restoring Prairie homes. Your description of the size lumber used in the eaves is common to what the owners of the other Prairie houses have found with their homes. The link to the Tribune artic...

Conecta - JimM

Jim, I too looked at Conecta for a lake house project in Illinois. I was fascinated with the construction of the walls and the look of all wood interiors and made a connection with Usonian board and batten. I stopped though when the company withdrew their website and stopped returning my emails and ...

Wynant House burns

I just saw a news story this morning that a fire engulfed the Wynant house in Gary, IN. The footage was taken at night and the fire was out in the footage, but I could not see how much damage was done. No other stories on the news services yet.

Open house today 1 - 3 PM 2/16/05

I saw an ad today in the Chicago Tribune that says there will be an open house today 1PM to 3PM. Don't know if they are prequalifying or registering vistors to screen out FLLW fans from real potential buyers.

I have corresponded with other Harold Turner homeowners in the past. They all love their homes and the pictures I have seen indicate Turner embraced the materials and techniques of Usonian construction. Email me separately by pressing the "PM" button below and I'll pass along some links an...

Bach house and Adjoining property to be auctioned 3/8/05

Just saw the advertisement for the auction of the Emil Bach house and the adjoining property for March 8, 2005 by Inland Real Estate Auctions, Inc. The ad in the 1/26/05 Chicago Tribune Business section reads; Relocated Owner Directs Auction Frank Lloyd Wright landmark property and adjacent developm...
