We spent our honeymoon in that area. Wanted to see FW since I was a young architecture student in high school. Bit farther but Allegheny park in ny was well worth it. The area going to Kentuck Knob is nice drive as well especially around the rapids (ohiopyle park I think it was called). I personally...

I had to really think about this one. Considering Wrights age at the time he was designing the prairie houses he was in family-mode and his designs reflect that. I do not have records before 1921 but the births around then seemed to support his client's needs. He went where the money was. Then comes...

Oh, btw, the odd size that is mostly used in my area is:

Canadian Elite: 3-1/8" x 3-1/2" x 10-1/8"

Very odd size and I do not like the look especially with the crackling on the surface but virtually all new houses here are using it.

One reason to leave Roman brick where it lay -- in the past -- is that a lot more labor (and mortar) is required to build a given wall . . . ? Perhaps a smaller-scaled structure would be the place to use this skinny brick, for multiple reasons: a compact house, or one with more glass than masonry ?...

<Sorry guys, tried to reply but my internet totally crashed last night> Ah! Thanks SDR, I never even considered the VM I was considering more how thick a wall was when laid up. In the case of a standard brick, it would build up to an 8" thick or 12" thick. I notice with the Roman/Norman it...

Brick Size Question

I notice FLW used Roman brick on many old houses (pre 1940s) and then switched to what I believe is standard size (3 5/8 X 2 1/4 X 8) for usonians. Does anyone know the reason for the dramatic shift in brick size as I would have thought Roman or Norman size would produce more of a horizontal look. I...

Google has a program that connects the inside of buildings to street view allowing the user to walk around the location in full 360 imagery. Together about 2000 photographers have shot 100,000 businesses so far around the world. It is still only a year. You can see an example I did here: http://goo....

Seth Peterson Cottage Site Plan

I have become absolutely fascinated with this cottage. Does anyone have a site plan or at least know the orientation of the house? I cannot see on Google Maps as it will not zoom in with current data and I cannot find on net. Thanks.
