Walker has been sold
A note from Chuck Henderson today on the Wright Attitude/Facebook announcing the new stewardship: "End of an era. After 73 years of family ownership, the Walker house has a new steward. The new owner, whose name is confidential, seems committed to the preservation of the house and property and ...

Re: Article: Barnsdall House - "Hollyhock" (Los Angeles, CA) set to reopen
The mention of Edith Truesdell in the reopening article reminded me of one of my most regrettable 'close but no cigar' moments while researching the house during the California Art Club years. A major goal was always to find first person accounts of general and specific details of what the house loo...

Re: Video: Barnsdall "Hollyhock" House - Los Angeles, CA
I'd like to preface the following response by saying I've been away from Hollyhock for a long time and have not kept current on what I believe are the many still undiscovered secrets regarding the house (plus the memory banks aren't quite what they were in the 80s). Re: Oboler property - I heard a suggestion on the Lautner Facebook page the other day that Kevin Parkhurst from Eric's practice has gotten expansion of the Oboler Estate to Mr. Wright's original plan approved by the Coastal commission - apparently a 10 year ordeal. If true, this would suggest there'...

I fear for both Eric & Mary and the Oboler property. Both are right on the edges of the evacuation areas. I know they evacuated the Malibu Wines Safari yesterday, which is just down the road from Oboler and their website says they lost some structures. www.lasafaris.com

Stan - not sure how the archive has been maintained after all of the years since my hands on involvement but while I was still active, I collected and bagged paint chip samples from the dining room soffits and they were stored initially in the main file cabinets we had at the time. I think you'd be ...

I believe there's some discussion of the winding road and parking issues in the correspondence with Lucius and Jorgine Boomer when they initially contemplated rebuilding Pauson with some additional changes/additions - changes that did not go over well with Wright. Unfortunately, due to some home ren...
