I'm mostly inquiring because i have a mason friend who is working on a house in the area that has a similar block, and he's interested in finding a source to get something comparable. There are a few small projects that could be fixed (planters and other exterior exposed areas) but nothing major on ...

Help Finding Info or similar Masonry for my house
HELLO EVERYONE! I've been pretty preoccupied and busy lately, hope everyone is well and having a good new year! I'm looking for some help identifying the masonry used on my house and if something similar was used on others. I'm unsure if there were some type of standards for this, or if mine may be ...

Thanks SDR and DRN! Everyone's help during the design process was very appreciated. Mahogany it is, although not completely solid slab, but instead pressed with an inch of insulation in the center where it was able to be added to help with the winter temps. I'll try and keep it a nicely polished and...

I have, but it would be a HUGE door. 48" wide by 91" tall.
Here are a few crude photoshops of a visual....

Here it is, Rosenbaum house interior looking towards the front door: Thanks Peter, thats a great example image! Wisco -- stronger ? I doubt it. If you're doing a single piece of glass, why not express it that way -- as a single lite. After all, that's the best match to the rest of the house, isn't ...

I believe that a smooth transition from the door all the way up would be nice, but not completely necessary. It's mostly hidden by the eves on the carport. It would go unnoticed until your were standing directly in front of the door. Having a header also allows extra jamb depth for a screen. I'd lik...

The entry to the house walks straight into the living area, and left to the kitchen. There is a small landing area with a built in entry cabinet with shoe storage, and coat rack. Privacy is not much of an issue, as the whole living area is exposed as it is. But without some type of window, you have ...

The area next to the door SHOULD be able to be replaced. I'll have to talk with the guy i'm working with for his thoughts about it. Egads, I've used the frosted file also, and it's great... plus it's removable incase the design were to need adjustment. I've got a strip on the window on the bathroom ...

a single side window with etched glass to match the block, and then non-etched strips for the grout lines might be nice also...and be more economical being that it's a single piece.

Thanks Peter and SDR, very much appreciated. I'd agree that a stained glass might be out of place, as well as even an insert. The main reason is to add some light to the entry, as well as the ability to see who's knocking. I really like the frosted side panel to match the blocks, although i'd be ver...

Also, Here is an image of the door as it was now... The bottom kick panel was added because the doors veneer chipped away. The stained glass that is in there now was added at some point. The square window was cut in the slab door at some point, and then the stained glass was added after. Thought tha...

Stained Glass or cutout patterns on front door?
Hello everyone, I'm looking for a little help again. I'm planning on rebuilding my front door and replacing the aging jamb. At the same time I'm going to be adding a vertical strip window in the door about 10" wide and 36" high. I've thought about inlaying a pattern that might set the fron...
