Wright? Wrong!

Post by Mark Hertzberg »

We have a brief new posting at www.wrightinracine.com noting a new low in a press release trying to establish a connection with Wright's legacy and work.

We will be posting an interview within a week with Dr. Christian, the owner of Samara, about the educational programming connected with the house. The article will include photos of the house and of the museum exhibit that has traveled through several states for four years, and is now at the West Lafayette Public Library.

He actually did design some houseboats as part of the Tahoe project in the late 20s (http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/flw/flw03.html). Does this have anything to do with those designs? (Probably not, or they'd run into legal problems)

There is no mention of the Tahoe project and I could not find any reference to Wright in the body of the press release, so it came off as just another attempt to feed off the Wright name and mystique. After all, how much organic can you be, than by having your houseboat surrounded by water?
