Having read the book carefully and thoughtfully, as well as most if not all other important books on Mr. Wright, I find this an important contribution to history. The protests of anguish among the "true believers" say more about the letter writers than about Wright or history. No where does the book say Wright was not an absolutely extraordinary architect, nor deny that his best buildings are without equal.

What it chronicles is the setting in which a portion of this work was created. Given other publshed works and conversations with people who were there at the time, on the whole it is quite believable. Is it it the annointed word of god from Genesis? Is it the pope speaking ex cathedra? Of course not. But nothing else is either.

Chronicles of history, reasonably carefully researched and related, as this is would appear to be, are not a threat. They are just history, as best as we poor humans can attempt to reconstruct it.

Relax, folks.

[quote="EJ"]I'm sure Mrs. Howe would be surprised that her husband was gay.

And Mrs. Howe (Lu) is still very much alive. Was she interviewed for the book?

My review of "The Fellowship" was posted at www.wrightinracine.com as a prelude to our Saturday Night at Taliesin invitation last week. A new story, in the context of the book, with many photos, is now up on the site.

Here is a link to another opinion on the new FLW book from Chicago Times architecture critic Kevin Nance

Very simplistic; stating the obvious. Even an "architectural critic" can't add much to the pruient intentions of the book. A good review would have pointed out that very little could actually be learned about the Fellow's from the book, and most of what is in it about Wright is not surprising or new.
