A not-so-little bit of heaven in Pasadena. Original owners.

I was lucky enough to be invited by Neutra scholar Barbara Lamprecht to tour three Buff, Straub, and Hensman houses in Pasadena a couple of weeks ago. This was the first house on the tour. One of the daughters of the Mello family who grew up in the house was also there to show us around, share anecdotes and provide us with the history of the house.
The house was built as a smaller 3 bedroom house designed mainly by the older Calvin Straub (considered the father of Southern Cailfornia post and beam architecture), and the addition done later by Buff and Hensman after Straub left the firm for Scottsdale Arizona in 1961. The house is almost entirely original, and still has its wonderful kitchen and bathrooms (generally the first thing that later owners can't seem to resist "updating"). The site is truly magnificent, a few houses away from La Miniatura, overlooking the Arroyo and Linda Vista.
Considering that the house is huge with seven bedrooms, it is priced reasonably and will surely sell quickly. Post and beam at its finest...
