Outdoor lighting / Night views - residential

Does anyone know of any sources/research/discussion concerning Wright's thoughts on outdoor lighting?
Particularly for residential structures? Any known examples of outdoor lighting on Wright's homes / facade lighting?
Something beyond the wall sconce.

Moreover, there seems to be a dearth of night / evening photos of (or information about) Wright's architecture - residential - either period or contemporary shots.

Does anyone know of any good precedents for outdoor lighting on Wright homes? Restoration cases?

What about subtle down lighting set within cantilevered eves? Are there any known restoration or renovation cases where something like this was introduced?

Our house has no exterior garden or up lighting, but most of the cantilered eaves have down lighting which extends the interior lighting to the outside. There are square cans with a sandblasted glass bottom housing one light bulb each. I think this is quite typical for the Usonians.

Thanks. Yes, the few I have seen precedent for are mostly in Usonian structures. And a ton of Taliesin West.

What about earlier structures? Stucco / wood prairie styles. I have seen one night shot of the Westcott restoration, but it was limited and it was a PR shot for a festive gathering. Not telling or typical.

If you will study the various lighting schemes of the Usonians, the outdoor lighting is an extension of the interior fixtures, same idea followed through on unit module. This seems to light the building nicely without being overdone. I believe he recognized the beauty of the night sky, the way the moon phases and movement could play on the building, and the value of a starlit background.

A feature of particular interest is in some Usonians, there is a continuation of the indoor ceiling light series to include an outdoor fixture over an outdoor planter box at the window wall, that switches on with the interior lighting. Another of the Old Man's bag of tricks to vanish the indoor/outdoor line, even at night.

Hollyhock had two sources of light for the Garden Court. There were wall sconces on the south wall of the pergola, which was all glass, and therefore helped to illuminate the court; and between each pair of hollyhock columns along the north side was a down light made of a wall sconce in a recess in the roof. (Those were deleted in the '46 remodeling by Lloyd for some unknown reason.) This was still considered inadequate by Ms Barnsdall, who had RMS design a pair of wall sconces which flanked the opening from the court to the circular pool.

Exterior lighting

At the Westcott House we have new replicas and we have new, new lights.
The art glass lights in the lead came, square, have a yellowish glass. They are positioned at the entry doors and along the pergola at the stucco columns facing the walkway. Also we have new down lights installed in the wood of the pergola over the urns for accent lighting. When we first turned on the outside lights lighting up and reflecting from the stucco of the columns and the house and walk glowed a soft amber and was actually soothing and up lifting and inviting and invigorating. Like light from a Japanese paper lantern.
The Architects did add in some exterior lighting to accent the building but we did not have any evidence of exterior garden lights up lighting the house originally in circa 1904. A recent event photo on there website showing folks on the pergola walkway at the Westcott with the large paper circular lights was a caterers idea I presume.
