Steve,
After I visited the house before you purchased it I told my wife that if we bought it I would paint over that blue/gray with a color that matched the trunks of the many trees on the lot. Just an idea for you to consider... with the computerized color-matching software available in almost all paint stores nowadays it would be fairly easy to accomplish.

Thanks, Paul. I like that idea. I've got some color slide scans coming from the archives--I'm gonna have a look and see what I can discern from those about color then put together some options.

Hello, Just a FYI, Realtor Anthony Clark from Fayetteville, AR contacted me. He has a website set up with every Fay Jones house for sale. There are quite a few of them. Here is the site.

Thanks for posting this Hypnoraygun...a great idea for a website and a great way to possibly steer (or tempt) Fay Jones enthusiasts toward stewardship.

I imagine I'll be driving by Stoneflower tomorrow since I have to go up that way for T-giving lunch.

I saw a "for sale" ad for it a year or two ago and was surprised to see the owner's name was someone I used to know. I still haven't had a chance to speak to him about it, but from the ad it appeared it had been used as a resort weekend rental.

I can't believe Stoneflower is still for sale after all of this time! Such a great looking place.

Maybe I'll win that $250,000,000 Powerball Lottery!

This Jones house has popped up before, and it suffers from light blue paint (a malady I'm too familiar with), but this seems a really good price. Perhaps because it has lake views, but possibly not lake access? Because only two bedrooms? 2,700 square feet is not small.

99 pictures, but almost all of them rather challenging to look at.

The towering commercial looking antenna right next to the house really ruins the setting of the house. I wonder if that could be removed. From the earth view, it appears to have some type of commercial property right next to it too. Does anyone know what that is? Other than that, a good piece of property indeed.

The house has an entire neighborhood between it and the James River to the west, but is quite close to Fisher Creek to the east without much between. The nearby houses are all at a considerable distance on similarly large lots. There is no commercial structure anywhere near the house. Perhaps the tower is a remnant of the old 50s television days? I would remove it, but it doesn't seem too intrusive.

You are correct, Wrighter, the photos are not good and the blue is not, either.

If you expand the description it says fast internet is available, free, from that tower. I bet this is the highest hill around. The tower might be leased to a cell operator, with a contract that cannot be easily broken. Or if it could, cell service would broken.

Nevertheless -- does it really "ruin the setting" ?

America is a huge country as relates to its population. (It's said the entire populace could easily stand -- sit ? -- lie ? -- on the state of Rhode Island). We're used to lots of room around us -- in our cars, in our homes, in cities and certainly in rural areas. And we're growing, in terms of spread, density, and infrastructure -- necessary for the lifestyle we assume and aspire to. "Not in my back yard" becomes increasingly difficult to achieve -- here and around the world ?

Apologies if this has been posted before--search function didn't come up with anything.

Fay Jones' Pine Knoll for sale:

http://www.janetjones.com/listing/16019659-2203-pine-valley-road-little-rock-ar-72207/

Read a rumor on the midcentury arkansas facebook page that this might be in danger because of the location and amount of land--in a highly prized area for developers.

I can't imagine.
