Text implies that the house if almost rural, with grand views all around. In fact, it is hemmed in from southwest to east by MCM houses, with views uphill on the north only. $1.75 for 1,400 sf seems a bit on the high end.

It need hardly be said that $1.75M for 1,400 sf of anonymous shelter is a different thing from $1.75M for 1,400 sf of world-famous architecture . . .
unless you believe that the house in question is being marketed, and would be purchased, as just another LA property ?

As we have seen repeatedly when it comes to the marketplace, the art of architecture (or painting, sculpture, etc.) is meaningless. It is only commerce that matters. Even if a great work fetches more money than a pedestrian work, it is because, down the line, the buyer foresees a bonus in the resale price. One is reminded of Van Gogh's "Irises," bought for a record (in its day, 1987) of $53.9M, stashed in a vault in Japan, until it resold to the Getty Museum for an undisclosed profit.

The aspect of this house that should be considered is that, rather than having the views and expansive privacy that the article implies, it is a glass box, albeit sumptuous, with only 60% of the views suggested. The uphill view without neighbors is largely of tree trunks.
