The beginning of a troubling trend. Oak Park has had tax problems for a long time. There are too many private residences and not enough commercial enterprises, so the home owners are saddled with extravagant property tax rates. I can imagine that those in charge of managing the 'village' are always on the lookout for ways to increase funds, but if one high rise is let in, others are bound to follow, and the nature of the community that draws people will be lost. Like the old song says: "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."

Yet the property is still available. It would be good to keep an eye on it.
Isn't there a FLW building in Lockridge that might go well on that lot?
