"Masterpiece" is a stretch. But it could be improved significantly.
outside, is the value of the land such that moving the house to a more modest area would bring in enough money by selling the current lot to upgrade the house? |

the house is definitely endangered. the asking price is actually below the market value for a lot in that part of Glencoe, and there are very few lots remaining anywhere near this cottage to move it to. Its a difficult situation as it has had a few mediocre additions glommed on over the years (including the entry canopy) which are not worth moving. In reality its a wooden "airstream" used by the Booth family for a summer. |

Turn it into a one-of-a-kind house kit . . . "Build Your Own Wright Vacation House !" . . . perhaps as the piece de resistance in next season's Neiman Marcus catalog ?
All the excrescences could be discarded, every part and piece labeled to an assembly chart in the manner of the ASBH product ? "Choose your site, pour your slab, and presto . . . !"

The Village of Glencoe has received a application for demolition of the Booth Cottage. The demo will be delayed for 6 months due to its honorary landmark status. The Village has no other protections, and the Village Board or Village Manager really don't seem to care. Sad state for Glencoe's history. The new owners are Jean Yang, a "real estate investor" - another McMansion coming soon! |

The vintage black-and-white image is very appealing, isn't it . . .

With that photo one can see how "Usonian" might cross (has crossed) some lips. The roof fascia is uniquely minimalist, for this date, while the wooden "water table" is pure Prairie.
Is it correct to say that this was intended as a temporary structure ?

Nice observation between roof and water table.
Yeah, I think I read in one of those articles it was intended as a temporary building.
The photograph suffices for preservation. _________________ "taste is less important than non-conformity"
