This is a spectacular home, always a HUGE hit when it's on the FLW Housewalk in Oak Park. And it's actually Redmond II, as the house to the north, between this home and FLW's home and studio, was also commissioned by Redmond for his family. It appears, from the records, that Redmond commissioned the smaller house and then approached Roberts again for this larger home right about the time they moved into the first home.

The first Redmond house is the one that caused FLW to reconfigure the dining room windows in his own home because, as you may recall if you've done the tour there, he wanted to minimize the view of the house that appeared right outside his windows--Redmond I.

Given that E. E. Roberts designed more buildings in OP than anyone else, perhaps he should have a conservancy of his own? He was an interesting mix of classic and prairie. Of especial interest is the Dr. Charles Cessna House @ 524 N. Oak Park Ave. There is also an interesting duplex for B. P. Horton @ 310 N. Grove Ave., OP, that appears in von Holst's book.
