#3: (You’ll notice that at his second home, Taliesin West in Arizona, the property is filled with pools and fountains. Perhaps he was worried about fires?)

I've seen the claim that the abundance of water at the Imperial Hotel and Hollyhock was a psychological byproduct of the 1914 fire. The pools and ponds may have done their part in saving the Imperial from fire after the earthquake.

FLW came by, and told them to move the pile next to the building, under the roof overhang. The leaves were set ablaze, the apprentices left it, the fire spread and FLW collected the insurance money to rebuild.
