Yes. Its other function is to bring a bit further into the (near) symmetry of the principal volume, the asymmetry of the "back rooms" of the house.

Ironic that the goal of the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust is accurately stated (1:04) at a time when the projected visitor center is causing such a furor.
