So... Comey fired? Comey showed incompetence around the Hillary matter. That was absoloutely no problem for Trump, but now that Comey has confirmed the investigation of Trump-Russian ties and said that the investigation will continue to the bitter end, he's gotta go.

Nixonian tactics only increase the suspicion around this administration...

Senators Graham, McCain, and Durbin, et al, won't be so easy to get rid of.

Time for an independent special prosecutor. Smells like rotten coverup...

For what it's worth, I don't get the feeling that anyone will much miss Mr Comey when he's gone.

But -- can he still be interviewed by those investigating various mysteries and misdeeds ?

The indecent, humiliating act of firing a career person on TV with no advance notice, no in-person meeting. That alone makes Nixon look like a choirboy. 45 is a terrified, sick man.

The headlines around the world will be "Trump fires FBI director in charge of investigating him." Welcome to the banana republic.

While we ponder the latest developments, maybe the political cartoonists of the nation can be heard from.

Ironically, it is their words, not their images, which really say it -- for me:

SDR, while McCain is still hostile toward Trump for being unkind to him, Graham is totally on board with the President.

If Hillary had won, Comey would have been gone on January 21.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I happen to admire James Comey and have ever since 2004 when he challenged the Bush Administration ploy to usurp power regarding spying on Americans from then AG Ashcroft while he was in ICU:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/15/AR2007051500864.html

The fact that he's angered members of both the Clinton faction and Trump faction speaks to his focus on justice over placating people in power. I don't know how anyone could say with a straight face that Bill Clinton's meeting w Loretta Lynch, didn't smell to high heavens:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2017/05/03/comey_loretta_lynchs_tarmac_meeting_with_bill_clinton_forced_me_to_go_public_about_clinton_investigation.html

Trump firing Comey, Yates, and US Attorney Preet Bharara certainly appears to be excising folks looking into misconduct with Russia!

Totally onboard, or one foot on a life raft?:

http://time.com/4772661/lindsey-graham-president-donald-trump-russia-investigation/

Graham is now politely requesting what we have been demanding since the primaries. It's called distancing oneself from disaster and covering your ass(ets). Who wants to go down with the sinking ship? Not the smooth, silky South Carolinian.

Today, on the heels of this mess: 45 meets with Russian spymaster Kyslyak plus Putin right hand man, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, but no American media were allowed by the administration. Fortunately, Russian photographers were allowed to be there to document the festivities! Also, to complete the surrealistic Nixonian spectacle, he meets with Henry Kissinger :- (

Who doesn't recognize that, when one side seeks information about an event or a practice, and the other seeks to limit access to that information, it is the latter faction which is hiding something ?

It isn't Mr Comey's loss we should be alarmed by, it is who he will be replaced by. President Trump is in the cat-bird seat, once again; it will be his guy who gets to push or pull on the Russian investigations, for an indefinite period of time . . .

Comey was fired because he asked for more resources to investigate the Trump administration. It's that simple... Trump using the tools of democracy in bad faith. Or is it because he's a responsible fiscal conservative, and he just determined that we can't afford it? Yeah, that's it...

https://www.wsj.com/articles/james-comey-had-requested-more-money-for-fbi-s-russia-investigation-before-being-fired-u-s-official-1494433061?ru=yahoo?mod=yahoo_itp&yptr=yahoo

Also today: Michael Flynn has been subpoenaed (after refusing to provide relevant documents).

And: Comey said in March what so many have been feeling: the president is "outside the realm of normal"..."maybe even crazy."

Trump's letter to Comey caught the attention of at least on observer, for the sentence which reads, "While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation . . ." The observation was that these words point directly to the real reason for the termination.

They tricked us!

"...That provides interesting context for how the White House official characterized TASS publishing the photos. “They tricked us,” the official said. “They lie.”..."
