My friend, Susan Bernofsky writes today:

" "Pre-existing condition" is just an evil way of saying that you've been battling an illness for longer than just yesterday. This is language designed to imply that it's somehow a moral failing to be ill. Whoever thought up the idea that people should get healthcare or heath insurance only for brand-new illnesses should rot in hell. "

And Modmom- I'm not laughing any more. They have determined that rape is a preexisting condition, but not erectile dysfunction. Bastards...

I am sorry to report that, on the eve of France's presidential election, the liberal candidate's campaign has been hacked; documents -- both real, and faked -- were posted. I know nothing more at this point . . .

Something that Trump and the Russians have in common: the propensity to tell untruths, to prevaricate -- to lie blatantly and shamelessly, in the furtherance of whatever goals they might possess . . .

The latest display of ignorance, but with a glimmer of hope, from our leader:

“It’s a very good bill right now. Premiums are going to come down substantially. Deductibles are going to come down. It’s going to be fantastic healthcare. Right now Obamacare is failing. I shouldn’t say this to our great gentlemen and my friend from Australia … because you have better healthcare than we do.”- Trump.

They have universal health care in Australia...

"And Modmom- I'm not laughing any more. They have determined that rape is a preexisting condition, but not erectile dysfunction. Bastards..."

This (if accurate) strikes me as a good example of the state of the nation.
We've gone through the Looking Glass: "one pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small..."

I'm not laughing any more either.

This is where I read about it:

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/04/health/pre-existing-condition-rape-domestic-violence-insurance/

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/05/health/health-care-bill-pre-existing-conditions/index.html

"An analysis of major health insurance companies' lists of pre-existing conditions did not reference erectile dysfunction, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't qualify as an uninsurable condition."

Being born female will soon be classified as a pre-existing condition.

"...Eminent domain, a favorite Trump tactic
As a real estate developer who has utilized eminent domain for previous projects (in the mid-’90s, Trump bought out a private home to build a limo parking lot for an Atlantic City casino), it’s not surprising that the president has been a champion of the use of this legal tool.

He spoke of eminent domain on the campaign trail, and also supported a 2005 Supreme Court decision that expanded the “public use” component in the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause, which gives local government bodies the ability to seize property from private landowners and give to a private developer.

What may be surprising is that his support pits him against many within his own party: Republicans who tend to promote private business above public ownership often view eminent domain as government overreach..."

Getting back to Donghia and Interior Design ... the original subject of this thread, I'm wondering what changes trump has made to the family rooms in the White House .... do you suppose they have gone Renaissance Revival, too? Does anyone know?

peterm, after the Supreme Court decided on the Eminent Domain case, which Sandra Day O'Connor opposed vigorously, many states, including CA, passed laws placing limits on ED, at least at the state level. Can't do anything about the federal level, but they mostly do highways and military installations which would not be so much of a problem.

Rood, I think Trump doesn't spend enough time in the WH to bother with a remodeling, but I bet when and if he does, he probably won't touch it at all.
