One thing I find somewhat odd about the "Taylor" house is that its 'open side' faces the main road. Granted, its wooded densely and the house is set back a nice distance from the road, which probably doesn't have much traffic. The orientation also gives the "L" shape its south/west solar exposure. But nonetheless, those window-walls of the bedrooms are fully exposed to the road (as is the living room), which just feels a bit weird to me....
I guess maximum solar gain was the priority....I'd imagine it's still pretty dark in there regardless. |

I wonder how many have experimented with lighting the landscaping at night, and letting that light (mostly) illuminate the interiors---as a strategy for visual privacy, and security.
