About as convincingly Pre-Columbian as "Secret of the Incas," with Charlton Heston and Yma Sumac. Weren't all those cultures patriarchal? I don't see any Mayan images of women at all. |

Primarily, yes, but there were powerful women in Mayan culture, such as Lady K'ab'al Xook, wife of Shield Jaguar II, who is shown standing over her in Lintel 25 from Yaxchilan, as she practices a ritual bloodletting. See

A very underrated movie with a glimpse into the later days of Mayan civilization is Apocalypto. Pyramids, ritual sacrifice, papa jaguar... it's all there in great detail. Gibson's best movie. Also the best headgear of any film ever. |

RA, the 'Amy Camus' story is fictional, nor was she a Jewish girl from Brooklyn. Her real name was Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chavarri del Castillo, and she was from Ichocan, Peru. |
