Egad ! Better late than never ? What a find. The lounge chairs in the last photos -- two different designs -- are worth studying. The one on the right, at least, is easy to understand. How exciting . . .

Beautiful!

No cushions on the furniture. The interior photos must have been taken shortly after completion, or were there never cushions?

There were cushions added later but initially it appears as if throw rugs were used. The desk area in our living room (initially the dormitory) must have been added later and built in drawers built at first when the room was used for the children.

Notice how light the Douglas fir appears on the inside. Wonder if light over time or a coating created the dark appearance.

The chair design seems like a great father/daughter project for the future. I really wish the built in sofa was not completely destroyed by termites. But I guess it can be added later if someone wants to recreate it. Unlike many, we regularly use our dining room for entertaining and hope to design/fabricate a table for 8 in the near future.

I've just added two more photos.

The first is of the stone piers outside the dormitory:

The second is of Ted van Fossen and Mary Gunning sitting by candle light drinking martinis. SDR, notice the difference in the chairs they are sitting on from the earlier "dormitory" photo of Mary reading with a young boy, the backs are different and the seat in which Ted is sitting appears like it might have a slide-in table.

Gee -- no two chairs alike. Someone was having a ball ! Hard to tell what supports that little table, but it sure is cantilevered . . .

Thanks for all these great photos. There's nothing like a creation when it is fresh and new (and not over-decorated yet). There's something about black and white; I suppose it's the association with vintage views of modern architecture that we all share, but it's so precious.
