I do not have a Roy Johnson on my list of apprentices.
I have a Robert and a Duke, but no Roy. |

Looks like this is the one the article talks about - (and I haven't come up w/ a Roy Johnson (mentioned as Roy M. in the article and Roy S. in the listing) as an apprentice, either).

Thanks, David. I don't think I've encountered a roof like that, with its dominance of the interior experience. How about the dining room. . .!

Yeah - I thought the same thing. A fixed table or other furnishing, centered under the beam, might have been a solution ?

We were told (by the daughter of the original owner and builder) that our 1956 Larchmont house was designed by Roy Johnson, a disciple of Wright. It is an amazing, amazing house (to us and most who see it) -- red cedar, about 90 windows and architecture that unites indoors with outdoors. We have been eager to learn about the architect. It does resemble the Croton house. I would be happy to email photos and a link to circlepix on request.
Would like to hear more about Roy Johnson. DevraB |

What an extraordinary site! The house is good, but the site is great. |

Roy S. Johnson is listed as the architect of record for a house in Randolph, Vermont. It was built in 1953 for Miriam Flick, and featured in an extensive article in the December 1953 issue of House Beautiful magazine.
The design is obviously influenced by Wright's work. If anyone has biographical information about Johnson, please let me know.
Thanks. |

I live in a house in Hastings on Hudson, NY that was designed by Roy Sigvard Johnson. The house was built for the photographer Elliott Erwitt and was featured in Architectural Record in 1961. I would be interested to see other examples of his work. |
