Yes thank you for posting them. Was the Walker house taken by someone in Wright's employ, or a magazine photographer? I know Wright used Guerero (sp?), but did he use any established architectural photographers to promote his work. Or did he find that beneath him? Shulman did something for him, right?

The fourth, fifth and sixth Loeb photos (previous page) show the Benday dots that mark these as photos printed in a book, magazine or other publication, rather than as original photographic prints. The third (in a different color tone) and sixth photos are too out-of-focus to determine this characteristic. . .

Isnít the Walker house photo awesome! The date indicates it was taken just after completion. It didnít have the TV Room addition yet. I also posted Thaxston pics just after that house was completed. That too was taken before the TV Room addition. You canít find photos like in any book and these are the pics I value most because they are pre-molestation. Even the books like FLW: The House donít have this. I should be thanked for posting these.

Thank you RJH. What would we do without you?

SDR is correct. photo 4,5,and 6 clearly show halftone dots. These are reproductions from publications and not continuous tone photos.

I believe we have a jokester within the Wright chat community.

"I have posted what he wrote on each pic." [first entry, page one of this thread]

Two of the pictures have such notes; the second ("Library Chimney Houses 2 Fireplaces, A Spiral to Roof.") is one of the half-tone photos.

Are these photos for sale, or are they being shown here for the edification of Wright Chat readers ? If the former, where are complete descriptions of the merchandise ? Do the half-tone items (i.e., printed material) have other matter on the face or back of the sheet ? Were they cut or torn from a magazine or book ?

Sloppy scholarship, or fraudulent merchandising, is hardly a service to Wright Chat or to anyone else. May we ask what's up ?

Very Happy

Most likely they are from the 1950s trade publication called "House + Home". We recently got a stack of them here at the PrairieMod offices and in one of the issues, the exact same image of the Walker house appears.

Also explains the printed dots...

say Prairiemod, any chance you'll post your photos? Or can I buy a set of scans?

Way to go ! Life's all about enriching ourselves as quickly and easily as possible, isn't it ?

Look at the gorgeous metal roof. The Wrightian horizontal ideal. Anybody (besides the owner of the photos) know what this is ?

No identification ? How will they be listed for auction ? What auction, where, and when ?

Most items in art auctions seem to be meticulously described, both as to provenance and as to subject matter -- as if, and rightly, they are objects of history, with a history.
