We have read here, in the last 24 hours, that the world will not see another Schindler, and that (Wright and) Schindler alone put enough into their work to provide an occupant with unlimited years of pleasure. Need either of these things be literally true ? No, we won't have Schindler, or Wright, cloned---nor would we want to. But thoughtful and inspired designers are at this moment making good work, though we may not be fortunate enough to see it, for a number of reasons. And even given adequate exposure, it may be some time before such work will be appreciated for what it is. Witness how long it took for both Wright and Schindler to receive their due . . .
In the meantime, we have them both, and others, to enjoy and be inspired by. Long may they live . . . in our minds.
