Interesting and emotive documentary. Round lots..!! so beautiful the use of the circles intersections... Do you have the (looong) floor plan or any architectural plan..?DavidC wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 3:54 pmFrank Lloyd Wright's Eric Brown House Documentary - [40:20]

One of the best things about the Brown House is the wood ceiling. The soft brown goes so well with the concrete gray.

I am the owner of the Brown House, and I've never seen the photo that's at the top of SDR's March 29 post. What is the source of that photo? I'd love to know the date. The trees above the retaining wall are long gone.

Is there still a trench in front of the carport?
Seems like an awkward way of dealing with roof runoff - must make the carport difficult to drive into!
This view to me has quite a Japanese influence.
and what a cantilever.
looks like trench is gone

Jckazoo, sorry I missed your post. The photo of the carport is found in A.D.A EDITA Wright Monograph 7 (1988); it is the only photo on the two-page entry for your house. Like all of the photos in these Monographs, it was taken by Yukio Futagawa. There is no date---but Futagawa began photographing Wright's work decades before these books were published, and I'm sure he took other shots of the house. Where they might be found I cannot say. His publishing house issued multiple volumes of Wright's work in addition to the Monographs . . .

To make up for that, here are the seven Alan Weintraub photos of Eric Brown, from "Frank Lloyd Wright Mid-Century Modern" (2007):

Yes, g.dorn, that is the Levin House.
Re: Video: Documentary on Eric Brown House - Kalamazoo, MI
This sentence gives one pause---especially if misread:
"Time has added patina to the block exterior to paint it deeper into the landscape."
Let's not even whisper the word "paint" anywhere within a mile or more of a block house . . .!
Can someone provide translation of Wright's handwritten note to a letter found in the linked article ? (Not the letter to the electric utility; that is comprehensible . . .)
