Monsanto REZ - What is it? Specified on 1956 Wright plans

Post by chucklohre »

Janet and I have the Boulter house in Cincinnati. We are trying to refinish the exterior of the wood. The original plans call for Monsanto REZ to be the transparent stain. Does anyone know about this product? What colors it came in? Here is a new site I'm working on http://www.wrightboulter.com/site/ that has photos and description.

The Monsanto product was discontinued years ago. I understand it was a sort of creosote product and it caused cancer upon exposure to the skin during application.

The best product I

FLW Ballpark...

Don't take it too seriously. The plans won't be restored until April 1, 2007. I guess, Frankophiles are just intense. Welcome to the club but hey, we can have some fun too.

I disagree - the web site is positively awful.

It makes the Jacobs #1 (www.usonia1.com) site look good - and that site is absolutely diabolical: designed by Flash-loving retards for similarly know-nothing owners. It's a genuine shame.

No - sadly Mr. Chuck Lohre your web site is terrible: mostly it just points to Open Source rubbish and all that Joomla garbage. I think it is better to learn some basic HTML and create your own basic (simple!) web site, than to try and leverage some off-the-shelf package which does little else except promote the authors of the package you are using.

The only good thing I can say is that you have actually made an effort, which is a lot more than many FLW home owners have done.

However, your beautiful home deserves much, much better.

FYI: I review, build, and maintain web sites professionally, and have done so since 1996. I work for www.msonewyork.com and I have coded over 5,000 web pages in the last 10 years. My most recent works include www.actionteam1.com (may be down for maintenance) and www.petbotanica.com as well as www.diligentbooks.com and www.diligentpartners.com

Jacobs One

Mobius - It is highly inappropriate to criticize an owner who has accomplished so much in restoring and maintaining the Jacobs House. The Owner is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about Wright, the design of the house and how it should be maintained - so much so, that he should serve as a model for others. Your comments are way off, and a civilized man would apologize.
