re-post from 14 Feb. 2008
When we first launched Wright Chat, there were many other such sites on the internet. Over time, Wright Chat became the premier site for intellectual discussion about the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and the Building Conservancy’s mission to facilitate the preservation and maintenance of his built works. We were pleased that our site became the place to go for such interaction. Except for a brief period of SPAM infection last year, the site has remained dedicated to its original purpose of serving the interests of Wright homeowners, Wright public sites, and the entire Wright-interested community.
Since its inception, Wright Chat has posted the terms of use. By registering to post, all users agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions.
While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore … you agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, *-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws or is inappropriately offensive. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, and administrator and moderators of this forum reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit.
Recently, a few posters have disregarded these terms to the extent that we have been informed by many loyal members of their disappointment and reluctance to visit the site. The offending parties have continued to disrespect these terms of use even after being cautioned about the consequences of their behavior.
We hope the cooling-off period of the past few days has caused all users to realize that Wright Chat will no longer tolerate personal attacks, sarcastic slander, vindictive criticism, spiteful retaliation or personal vendettas against other users, individuals or organizations. It is not the forum for personal communication of any nature between two parties, but all posts are for the benefit of our entire audience. If not conducted with the civility of human decency, they and their authors will be permanently denied the privilege of using our site.
We have recently upgraded software to trace posts to the IP address of the poster and can easily block entrance to any communications from that computer.
If you have any comments or questions about Wright Chat, please do not post them on the site. Send them directly to the Conservancy at preservation[at]savewright[dot]org.
Thank you, and please help us continue to provide a Wright Chat that is educational, informative, intellectually stimulating and well-mannered.
THE FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT BUILDING CONSERVANCY
