Beharka House: Progress pics
Beharka House: Progress pics
Greetings Wrightians,
It has been quite a while since I have posted any progress on the Beharka house. We have been there 9 years now. Most of exterior wood has been sanded and treated, Recent projects have included fixing the water intrusion problem at the sills under the tall windows, and my California native gardens are still a work in progress, but efforts so far are exciting.
New projects included a new fence nd gate to secure backyard, restore, repair, replace the cantilevered deck which is now a water feature on a rainy day, Future projects, lots...
Recent acquisitions include, one of Bob's Taliesin floor lamps, Bob's template for making concrete urns, and some old photos that Bob took of the house during and shortly after construction.
Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing your pictures...the house is looking great, the dusk photo is a favorite, a lantern in the night.
Re: Beharka House: Progress pics
Your photos are greatly welcomed. I too enjoy the lamps. It seems like the cat has the best seat in the house. Congratulations on the ongoing projects, keep up the good work.

Pretty great house.
I like this one better than the ones like it that I've seen by 'Wright himself.

I'm very glad you posted these recent pictures, Kevin. The house and grounds are looking wonderful! And, the landscaping has matured beautifully since my wife and I had the pleasure to visit w/ you some years back. Congratulations on all you have done - and, will continue to do!

Kevin, what is the module of your house? the FLW Erdman prefab is 4'x4'. I am guessing yours is less.

Re: Beharka House: Progress pics
For my money, it makes the Erdman II prefab look pretty clunky by comparison:

Re: Beharka House: Progress pics
McBean is wonderful, not clunky at all! I asked about the scale, because Beharka looks almost like a different scheme at a significantly smaller scale, and thus not easily compared.
Re: Beharka House: Progress pics
I thought I recalled seeing a plan of the Beharka house once, here, so I went searching. Didn't find that---but there's this:
